Bicycle Charging and Maintenance Station
A connected station that accommodates two bicycles, charges e-bikes and provides tools for everyday maintenance.

Cyclists may need to charge their e-bike, inflate a tyre or make a minor adjustment during a journey. These services are rarely available within a single unit. The challenge is to design a compact station for two users while simplifying service access, tool tracking and remote management.
Smart Bike Station combines bicycle parking, e-bike charging and everyday maintenance around a central metal structure. Two bays, one on each side, each have a dedicated QR code and charger. Sessions are designed to operate independently, allowing one user to finish without interrupting the other.
The architecture includes a planned mobile application for accessing services, monitoring sessions and processing payments. A secure compartment stores maintenance tools, with an identification system intended to verify their return. Sharing the controller, connectivity and selected equipment aims to reduce component count and simplify maintenance.
- 01Bay identificationThe user parks their bicycle and scans the QR code for their bay.
- 02Service selectionThe application displays services and prices. The user confirms their selection and the planned payment preauthorisation.
- 03Station useThe user accesses the selected services: compatible charging, maintenance tools or tyre inflation.
- 04Tool returnBefore closing the session, tools are returned to their compartment. The planned system checks tool presence and compartment closure.
- 05Session completionThe application calculates the final amount, flags any missing tools and closes the session without interrupting the other bay.
Next steps
- Test simultaneous operation of both bays and session continuity.
- Define charger compatibility with the intended e-bikes.
- Develop remote monitoring to track availability, faults and maintenance needs.
- Explore one-bay and four-bay configurations based on the shared architecture.
